A firewall has long been a necessary security measure in the  threat landscape. However, which firewall? Threat actors have evolved and so must organizational firewalls.  To help you choose the right firewall for you , you need to know the key security features that should come with a firewall. What organizations of today need to is "Next Generation Firewalls (NGFW) " . Revolution Technology BD is here to both provide the necessary information as well as supply the firewall if your organization is ready to take the step.

Key Features of a Next-Generation Firewall:

Intrusion Prevention System (IPS): An IPS monitors network traffic for malicious activity and automatically blocks or mitigates attacks. It uses various techniques, such as signature-based detection, anomaly detection, and behavior-based detection, to identify and respond to threats.

Application Control: Application control allows administrators to identify and manage individual applications, regardless of port or protocol. This enables granular control over application usage, ensuring that only authorized applications are allowed to run on the network.

Deep Packet Inspection (DPI): DPI examines the contents of network packets to identify and block malicious traffic. It goes beyond traditional firewalls that only inspect packet headers and can detect hidden threats within the data payload.

SSL/TLS Inspection: SSL/TLS inspection decrypts and inspects encrypted traffic to identify and block malicious content. This is crucial as an increasing amount of web traffic is encrypted, and threats can hide within encrypted connections.

Threat Intelligence: NGFWs often integrate with threat intelligence feeds to stay up-to-date with the latest threats. This information helps the firewall proactively identify and block known malicious actors and attacks.

Sandboxing: Sandboxing is a technique that isolates suspicious files in a safe environment for analysis. This helps identify and block malware that may not be detected by traditional antivirus solutions.

URL Filtering: URL filtering blocks access to malicious or inappropriate websites. It can also be used to enforce acceptable use policies and prevent users from accessing non-work-related websites.

Quality of Service (QoS): QoS allows administrators to prioritize critical network traffic, ensuring optimal performance for essential applications. This is important for maintaining business continuity and productivity.

Centralized Management: NGFWs often come with centralized management capabilities, allowing administrators to manage multiple firewalls from a single console.
